Chapter 10 - Investigation

So Kenny, Jake and Sandra drove to the Central park to the location of the crime scene. There were more cops there. They were investigating the area. Jake gave the one in charge a note from Karl, so that they have permission to get on this case and investigate it.
Kenny was horrified when he saw Leash’s hanging corpse. The cops didn’t remove the bodies from the scene yet as they didn’t want to mess up any investigations. Leash’s face looked like it was in absolute agony and Kenny remembered what Angelika said about the excess guilt that accumulated in him. Guilt is a strong feeling and often leads to bad events. All the evidence seemed to point to suicide and so Kenny definitely knew it was because of strong guilt.
Thorn was still lying on the ground against the tree where he was shot in the head. Kenny closed his eyes for a second and remembered last night and how Thorn got shot.
- “So Kenny, anything to share?” Jake came up to him.
- “That guy who suicided himself – he did it because of guilt.” Kenny explained.
- “Guilt?”
- “Yes, because the other guy was one of his best friends.”
- “Why did he shoot his friend then?”
- “I think he had no choice. His friend was going to betray them.”
- “What do you mean by ‘them’?”
- “There’s also another robber who is in charge. We’ve yet to find him. I think he planned something big and nasty.”
- “I see. Could I ask you exactly why were you here last night?”
- “You’d think I’m crazy if I told you.” Kenny said negatively.
- “Try me. Come on, I won’t tell anyone.”
Kenny knew he could trust Jake as he was one of his best friends. He relaxed his mind for a moment and then slowly said:
- “Remember that girl we saw on the bridge? Well she told me about this.”
Jake found it hard to believe, but he didn’t see why Kenny would lie to him, so asked:
- “OK, how did she know about it?”
- “Well here’s the crazy part. She is actually an angel.”
- “Kenny, come on. Angels don’t exist. I bet she was an ordinary human.”
- “I told you that you won’t believe me.”
- “I’m sure there is an explanation for everything. Let’s just concentrate on the case.”
- “Sure. I really wonder what it is that their leader has planned and whether the deaths of his two friends affected his plan in any way.” Kenny said.
- “We’ll need to find out the actual IDs of these two robbers first. I think that will help us come out to the main guy.” Jake said.
- “I think it will be way too late then. He’ll already put his plan to use. But let’s hope for the best.”
At this stage they decided to join the other cops and see what else was found. After about an hour or so they went back to the station. This is when Kenny, Jake and Sandra had to write another report, but this time on their finds on this crime scene.
The report wasn’t too long and was straight to the point, meaning they didn’t need to spend the whole day on it and so soon the shift was over and Kenny headed back home and intensively thinking on his way there.

Messages from this chapter:
